International consultant through Hammer & Hanborg
– I have always loved a good story. And at the end of the day, that’s what we do as communications professionals – we tell stories. I’m so lucky that this passion for listening to and telling stories has taken me to many corners of the world. I studied journalism at university in my native Australia, and worked at television and radio stations to gain some real-world experience during my studies. Since graduating, I have worked mostly in the public sphere in communications roles at international organisations (in France and in Thailand) helping them tell their stories. Now, as a communications consultant in Oslo, I am helping tell the stories of another organisation – this time in the private sector.

– They say that variety is the spice of life, and for me, life is perfectly spiced at DNV! From editing the company’s annual report, to speechwriting for internal and external audiences, to producing social media content on topics like the energy transition and digitalisation – I feel I am learning a whole lot from my expert DNV colleagues while also contributing a lot. Even though I am there temporarily, DNV has made me feel very welcome and a valued member of the team. Variety, teamwork and learning – that is what gives a job meaning!
Life as a hired consultant
– Starting a new job can sometimes be a slow and tedious process. But as a consultant, you can hit the ground running and start making an impact with your work from day one – that is very rewarding. Working as a consultant is also a unique two-way learning opportunity, where you bring a unique perspective to the client’s team and share your expertise while enriching yourself as a professional through interactions with new colleagues and new ways of working.

– The last of the Autumn leaves – whose colours always amaze me – are falling in Oslo. That means winter is here! Growing up by the beach in Australia where a winter’s day rarely dips below 10 degrees (+10, that is), snow is still a major novelty for me – so I’m looking forward to rugging up in some warm clothes and getting out in the snow as much as I can this winter!
